The three panel front boasts a deeply carved rampant lion to the central panel with two intricately carved foliate designs to the left and right. The panels are divided with a large flower, its head flanking the escutcheon and heavily leafed stem descending. Each border is heavily decorated, the gadrooned edge of the lid rather charmingly remaining unfinished. The carvings are likely later,
